The brand new iMini is a superb burr coffee grinder from Ascaso, a company that specializes in commercial and domestic coffee equipment. Its compact size makes it ideal for home use, and it sports a veyr solid construction.
Turning the knob on the side of the grinder allows the grind setting to be adjusted to any point on a continuous scale from the finest to the coarsest setting. This is known as stepless adjustment. This feature allows very small adjustments to be made very easily - making it one of the few grinders that can achieve the perfect grind setting for making espresso.
The body of the black i-Mini is made from aluminium which is then powder coated to give a durable black finish. The body of the aluminum i-Mini is made from aluminium polished to a shiny finish. When these grinders get wet near your espresso machine, there is no rust!
The hopper is made from clear plastic and holds approximately 250g of coffee beans. The hopper just lifts off for washing, and the top of the grinder is easily removed to allow access to the burrs for cleaning. Please make sure to remove the beans from the hopper prior to removing the hopper.
The ground coffee is dispensed directly into your portafilter handle from the chute. Simply hold the portafilter handle against the button on the front of the grinder to activate the grinding mechanism. If you do not use an espresso machine, you can dispense the coffee into a small cup or container.

- Please note that grinders with the above stepless adjustment are not good candidates for grinding for multiple types of coffee brewing methods. The reason is that it is difficult to change settings from very course for french press to very fine for espresso as turning the adjustment knob countless times makes this impractical. however, to fine tune a grind for espresso, the stepless feature works great!
- The instructional manuals for Ascaso are printed for worldwide distribution and covers almost every model produced worldwide. With this in mind, there may be features, accessories, or colors available in Ascaso equipment in other countries, but not available in our models produced for the United States.
The family enterprise, founded by Jesús Ascaso in 1962, started growing until it became, four decades later, a leading company in components manufacturing for all the professional coffee machines in the market. Nowadays, Ascaso Factory sells its products to more than 50 countries in the world and continues with its expansion in the international markets.
It’s from now on, that there originates the professional need to diversify the business. José Luis Ascaso jr., the founder’s son, is a 36-year old economist and the author of this diversification plan. “Our coffee machines factory is created from an integrating perspective: to unify our wide knowledge in the world of the components and the coffee machines with the espresso-culture. But the real culture, the professional one. The one which searches for the coffee perfection. And all this in order to transfer it to the individual homes.”
